J. Kenner – Say My Name

53708d819e253f18adfcb6b010f14366

This is a spin off of the Stark Trilogy and is written in the same vein.  The connection between the two series is fantastic but I refuse to spoil it.  Similar to Damien, Jackson Steele is a wealthy and powerful architect that gets what he wants.  He is controlling and manipulative, but for a submissive those are all good attributes.  Sometimes the line between good control and bad control aren’t clear, which makes relationships complicated.*  He has a history of pushing Sylvia Brooks too far.  Is he out to win her heart or just out to win control over her?  Sylvia Brooks left Jackson once before, but will returning to his bed be too much for her.  Beware, this book ends such that you’ll feel compelled to read the next.

* This complication only relates to the adult relationship between Sylvia and Jackson.  Sylvia’s childhood past includes being assaulted by an adult.  Under no circumstances should an adult take such action on a minor child.  This distinction is clear in the story as well.

Lori Ryan – Legal Ease (Sutton Capital Series, book 1)

d22f22359dcb9b216c20facb3ca05c34

Kelly and Jack get married quickly as the result of a fun offer and negotiated non-legal contract.  They both commit to the marriage for a single year.  As in most legal discussions, there is a slippery slope into the abyss.  That’s where Kelly and Jack both find themselves – sliding from faking a relationship to falling into a relationship.  Sometimes it is difficult to get your mind, body, heart, and head all on the same page.  Kelly needs to protect herself from getting hurt.  The story arc is predictable but you can’t help but get drawn in by the characters.

Christina Lauren – Beautiful Secret (Beautiful Bastard #4)

Praise to the art of taking things slow.  Sometimes it almost seems like a lost art, but this book is packed from start to finish.  The awkward humor is refreshing and keeps you laughing.  Although I did get caught laughing a bit too loud while reading in a public place.  Oops.  Niall is a the kind of man that you can get behind and cheer for.  It is like rooting for the underdog at a sporting event.  Niall struggles with his confidence and identity but continues to try his best at making a go at a relationship with Ruby.  This is a fantastic series – don’t miss out.

Abbi Glines – When I’m Gone

51Gk+nXeewL._AA160_

Unlike other Rosemary Beach novels, this book has more of a home-town feel but the characteristics that make the entire series great are ever present.  In this book, Mase is the man!  He is sexy, compassionate, sensitive, protective, and patient.  He goes after Reese in a delicately commanding way.  He is acutely aware of her unspoken concerns and is endlessly supportive.  Finally, his awareness makes him incredible between the sheets.  Despite her troubled past, Reese is strong, brave, and kind.  I can’t help but mention Reese’s caring neighbor, Jimmy.  I hope in a future book he gets his own story.  Beware, the book ends in a major cliff hanger – be prepared to get the next in the series: When You’re Back.  It is set to be released on June 20, 2015.  At least the wait isn’t too long.

Abbi Glines has been kind enough to make available the Prologue & Chapter 1 for When I’m Gone on her site:

Emma Chase – Tied

I love Drew and I love this book!  Drew Evans is the perfect blend of male characteristics, which makes him incredibly sexy.  He’s cocky but justifiably arrogant.  He’s intelligent and successful in the investment banking world.  He’s beautiful.  He’s an asshole, but he’s self-aware of it and is honest enough to admit to the shortcomings of his natural male tendencies.  He’s not immune to jealousy, which makes him a bit more appreciative.  He’s got a practically insatiable libido, but very generous in bed.  Drew isn’t afraid of speaking about what’s on his mind, sometimes crass  (and funny) and sometimes very romantic.  I melted when he told his mom, “If it wasn’t for you-I never would’ve been able to win over a woman like Kate.”  And, he’s a wonderful caring father.  Of course he believes that seeing a shirtless guy with a baby is a form of “female frigging Viagra.”  Overall, Drew is the yin and yang of perfection.

This book was very much worth losing sleep over – I couldn’t put it down.  Every page kept my attention.  The humor in the book is like frosting that holds a cake together.  It makes the whole even more delicious.  Emma Chase teases about the gratuitous oral scene.  Well hey, I like a little extra frosting on my cake.  There are so many funny lines that I would love to quote and share, but I don’t want to spoil the entire book experience.

Abbi Glines – Kiro’s Emily

51-i3QNHLFL._AA160_

This is the 10th Book in the Rosemary Beach Series.

As a fan of the Rosemary Beach Series, I greatly appreciate this gift of a book and addition to the story line.  The author/publisher were generous enough to make it free on Amazon.  It’s a cool novella that is a prequel to the series.  I really like how the author breaks away from standard formula rock star book.  Here, Kiro falls for the innocent girl, Emily.  Unlike most books, Emily doesn’t actually tame Kiro.  He remains true to himself.  He doesn’t limit his foul mouth, doesn’t curb his libido, and doesn’t act any less selfless.  But what makes him incredibly sexy is the way he focuses all his energy on Emily.

Kristen Proby – Come Away With Me

51Qj3Au6ldL._AA160_

This is Book One in the With Me In Seattle Series (Volume 1)

This is a feel-good book.  The frequency of the coupling scenes is inspirational.  Luke’s jealousy and protective nature is hot.  The drama is sufficient to keep the story moving, but does not make it a stressful read.  The ancillary characters, their friends and family, add warmth to the story.

One thing about this book that does stand out for me is the character, Natalie.  I love when she stands up to Luke’s sister (who pretty much doesn’t think that Natalie is good enough to date her brother).

And, Natalie has awesome phrases tattooed on her body in multiple languages:

One Step at a Time (in Italian)

Be happy for this moment.  This moment is your life. (in Sanskrit)

Love deeply (in Greek)

Happiness Is a Journey (in French)

Forgive (in Italian)

Meredith Wild – “Hardline”

41KJKpiFPdL._AA160_

This is the 3rd in the Hacker Series.  This book is less about the business and tangential mysteries and more about Blake and Erica’s relationship.

The book is scorchingly hot from beginning to end.  Hell, the book starts out with the following text exchange:

E: I’m in a meeting.  I’ll call you after.

B: I want you naked in my bed by the time I get home.  You should leave soon.

E: I need more time.

B: I’ll be inside you within the hour.  Your office, our bed, your choice.  Wrap it up.

Read the book and find out how Blake deliciously punishes Erica for her tardiness.

Blake fully steps into the role as Dominant.  Blake demands Erica’s full submission.  He claims that,

“… this isn’t what I want.  This what I need.  It’s what we need.”

Blake is fully prepared to take matters into his own hands and deny Erica until she is willing to submit.  Is loving Blake enough to concede giving up every last piece of herself that is so important to her?

Laurelin Paige – “Hudson”

Screen Shot 2014-10-22 at 8.17.31 AM

The Fixed Trilogy  (plus 1)

“Hudson” – Hudson’s perspective before, during, and after the trilogy.

Hudson is a sexy complicated man with a huge capacity to love and to harm.  As a reader of the series, you known how true this is.

I was a huge fan of Alayna and Hudson since the beginning of the series.  After, being rewarded with the HEA, I was a little reluctant to read “Hudson” and delve more into his darkness.  In the end, if you love the character Alayna, who in turn loves and forgives Hudson, then you should read “Hudson.”  It makes the HEA richer and more fulfilling.

Reading this book was rewarding.  It made me think about forgiveness – forgiving oneself and forgiving others.
