Lorelei James – Cowboy Casanova: Rough Riders, Book 12

d0359a962a83bf7d4862f8306b080bcb

This series drives me insane.  Each new book I read, I say it is my new favorite.  Those McKay men are hot, determined, wicked, fun, and loving all at the same time.  The female characters are all strong and independent.

You know they always say it’s the quiet ones.  Well, Bennet McKay may be the quiet one in his family, but he isn’t anything but dominant in the bedroom.  He’s a cowboy with talented roping skills and knows how to yield a whip for more things than just herding cattle.  What makes him great is ultimately his ability to compromise.  Being a good Dom requires prioritizing the needs of the sub.

Ainsley is smart, successful banker.  She holds a powerful position at the bank.  Learning the power of being a sub allows her to finally find happiness in a relationship.

Bennet and Ainsley’s playtime at a club blooms into an affair outside of the club scene.  BDSM is not just about playing out scenes but has place in everyday relationships as well.  Just like any marriage between adults, this can take on many variations.

I appreciated the character, Dalton, who is young and falsely misinterprets the entire BDSM scene.  His moment of enlightenment was a wonderful way of explaining the intimacy involved in a BDSM bond.

What a potent combination: (1) running from a murdeous mad-man; (2) hiding in a BDSM club; and (3) sizzling chemistry between a ballet dancer and an elite military man.

Joaquin finds the Dom in himself.  His military background makes him a take-chargge kind of guy, but he has to learn to open his heart.  One of my favorite quotes of his,

“You’re like the drug that I can’t get enough of.  When I’m not inside you, all I can think about is fucking you.   When I am, I don’t think of anything but filling you completely and owning you.”

Bailey is innocent but strong at the same time.  Her emotional conflict brought a realism to the story.  She enjoyed being spanked for the first time but was too embarrassed to admit it.

Joaquin promises Bailey a sensational time.

“I love the sound of you begging baby girl.  Now I’m ready to hear you scream.”

Like the military man he is, Joaquin completes his mission and Bailey finally realizes the addictive nature of outstanding sex.

Lorraine Loveit – Getting Tackled

51hhghi-SeL._UY250_

This is the 2nd Book in the Playing the Game series.

Beware! Reader may become as addicted to the series as Susie is addicted to getting busy with Brendon.  Susie cannot stop herself from being with Brendon even if she doesn’t like many aspects of how he treats her.  She admits that she has an

“Unhealthy obsession with him and his body”

How could she give up such a relationship, when he brings her more pleasure than she ever dreamed was possible with a man?

“Being with Brendon it was much more than just sex; it was like being connected with him on a higher level where his true self was revealed.”

Yet still, she wishes that she could change Brendon and make him love her.  Can she accept the good with the bad?  Does the sex override her other concerns?  I don’t know the answer to that question, but the bedroom scenes are scorching hot!  The book leaves you craving to know how it will all work out for Susie and Brendon.

Lorraine Loveit – Full Time

I usually thank authors at the end of my post, but I’m switching it up this time.  Thank you to Lorraine Loveit, because unlike most other authors, she did a fantastic job of recapping the previous books in the series without over doing it.  It was a great beginning.

In Full Time, Susie is in a precarious but enviable position.  I wouldn’t necessarily classify it as a problem – having two dominant males vying for her.  If I can see beyond my own personal jealousy of her fictional character, I feel her angst and struggle.  I found myself reverting back and forth between Team Brendon to Team Jason.  I love the struggle that Susie has between understanding what’s in her head and in her heart.  It’s not always clear, even to oneself, how one feels towards a person.  This dilemma makes the book really interesting.  In addition, Susie is relatively new to having a BDSM relationship and is still trying to understand her own personal limits and what it all means.  The books is filled with eye-opening and jaw-dropping steamy scenes that will not disappoint.

Included was a bonus chapter from the next in the series: “Time On” – OMG I can’t wait to read it.  This is one of those series that gets better and better after each book.

Sydney Jamesson – TouchStone for play

This is the first book in the Story of Us Trilogy.

There were a couple of elements in this book, which will definitely make it an unforgettable read for me.  First, the use of dual names for a singular character was fantastic.  I love how Elizabeth/Beth takes on both roles and Ayden accepts both personas interchangeably.  It seemed very well suited for her character, rather than trying to act like a full blown Switch and demanding to be called Mistress. Second, the incorporation of music references into the text messages between Beth and Ayden was sensational.

As an aside, I think it would be really cool, if when reading a book like this you could click on the title of a referenced song and hear the song play instantly.

Lauren Dane – “Laid Bare”

51vrqq3fuXL._AA160_

This is the 1st in the Brown Family series.  I rarely make time to re-read books, but this was either the second or third time I’ve read this book.  The series is phenomenal!  I want to be adopted into the Brown Family.  Each story is crazy exceptional.  There’s nothing that gets old about these stories.  These are a must purchase, but do not lend to a friend unless they sign a contract that they will return the book to you.

Laid Bare starts off the series with a bang, making you feel raw and exposed.

[Todd] “You’re bad for my self-control, Erin.  You make me want things I should’t want.”

[Erin] “Or maybe I make you want things you’ve always wanted and only now have a safe place to express them,” she challenged.  “Why shouldn’t you want them?  Why shouldn’t you get off on what gets you off?”

In addition, to some wild hot scenes, Lauren Dane draws out the reader’s appreciation for true love and acceptance.

Also, check out the spin-off series: Delicious (Sway, Tart, Lush)

Great name for the series because each story is sinfully delicious.  This is an awesome extension from the Brown family, but great as a stand alone series too.  The friendship between all the women in this series can seriously make a person jealous.

Meredith Wild – “Hardline”

41KJKpiFPdL._AA160_

This is the 3rd in the Hacker Series.  This book is less about the business and tangential mysteries and more about Blake and Erica’s relationship.

The book is scorchingly hot from beginning to end.  Hell, the book starts out with the following text exchange:

E: I’m in a meeting.  I’ll call you after.

B: I want you naked in my bed by the time I get home.  You should leave soon.

E: I need more time.

B: I’ll be inside you within the hour.  Your office, our bed, your choice.  Wrap it up.

Read the book and find out how Blake deliciously punishes Erica for her tardiness.

Blake fully steps into the role as Dominant.  Blake demands Erica’s full submission.  He claims that,

“… this isn’t what I want.  This what I need.  It’s what we need.”

Blake is fully prepared to take matters into his own hands and deny Erica until she is willing to submit.  Is loving Blake enough to concede giving up every last piece of herself that is so important to her?

Laurell K. Hamilton – Jason

51tF7dlutKL._AA160_

This is the #23 in the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Series

While the Anita Blake series is usually very high on the paranormal side, this particular book is not.  It’s more like an insight into the polyamorous lifestyle.  Or as Jason said in the book, “It’s like a lesbian tutorial.”

For those of you who have not read the series, Anita Blake is an incredibly strong female character and I don’t mean her paranormal or metaphysical strength.  She is incredibly brave.  She sees no other options than facing her fears.  In Jason, it is surprising to learn that some things can still make her blush.  Read Jason, and find out what could possibly make Anita be unsure of herself in a bedroom setting.  In the book, Anita says, “I was so far outside my comfort zone I couldn’t see it from the shore anymore.  I felt lost at sea, but determined to weather the storm, even if it was a storm formed of soft flesh and silk.”

While Jason is usually a jokester, he pushes Anita to answer difficult questions.  “Are you really willing to spend the rest of your life trying to date someone you not only don’t love, but that you actually don’t enjoy having sex with?”

This is an awesome series!  Even if paranormal romance is not your thing, READ this book.

Lorelei James – “Raising Kane”

51CmbY3GwTL._AA160_

This is the Rough Riders book 9, but it takes place between book 7 (Shoulda Been a Cowboy) and book 8 (All Jacked Up).

Is the fact that Kane was a complete man-slut in his past a bad thing?  Not for the lucky recipient of all of his experience.  Ginger is the fortunate winner of Kane’s affection.  Damn lucky!

In Raising Kane, Kane has reformed his wild ways.  He’s a responsible contributor to the family farm, caring uncle, and great mentor in the Little Buddies community program.

He might have refined his behaviors, but don’t get me wrong – he’s all dominant hot cowboy!  Much of the story takes place during the winter blizzard months, but this book sizzles!  Ginger and Kane’s lunch date nooners, make me think I definitely need to change my diet.
