Vote for Goodreads Best Romance of 2014 – Final Round Nominees
I’m so excited that three books that I’ve read and enjoyed this year are still in the running for the Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Romance Book of 2014. Go VOTE!
Congratulations to Jamie McGuire, J.R. Ward, and Sylvain Reynard for making it to the final round!
Lorelei James – “Branded as Trouble”
This is Book 6 in the Rough Riders Series. While some series may get old after the first few books, this should be called the Series’ Sexy Sixth. This is just as great as the earlier books in the series, which were all phenomenal and gave the reader a sneak peek at Colt and India. Finally, it is Colt and India’s story in “Branded as Trouble.” They both have a dark past involving an addiction to drugs and alcohol. Their common character strength in overcoming their addiction as well as their tastes in the bedroom make them a perfect couple for each other. I loved the scene with the caramel rolls – great combination of my two favorite guilty pleasures.
What stood out most to me in the book was the deep family bonds in the McKay family. This is one of the perks of reading a long well-developed series. I was very moved when Cam came to Colt’s defense. You can check out the the whole McKay/West Family Tree at http://www.loreleijames.com/docs/mckaywestfamilytree.pdf
to Lorelei James!
Meredith Wild – “Hardwired”
What a tangled web Meredith Wild weaves in “Hardwired.” The characters become more intertwined as the book continues. I can’t wait to see how it all sorts itself out in the rest of The Hacker Series.
Blake is wealthy business man. But can he bring the heat? Yes! Here’s a favorite quote and sample of the swelter …
“I drew in a deep breath and crossed my legs, acutely aware of the sensations he inspired between them. Get it together, Erica. The ball of nervous energy that had resided in my stomach mere seconds ago had exploded into a blinding sexual energy that had me pulsing from my fingertips to my nethers.”
On a side note, I enjoyed the reference to dinner at Maggiano’s. It is a popular and savory restaurant in the Chicago area (where it originated).
to Meredith Wild!
Saskia Walker – Inescapable
Read this book – you are guaranteed to get hooked on the first page. It was probably the most perfectly paced book I’ve ever read. Saskia Walker keeps the heat and tension going on every single page! It takes a relationship from a virtual world, to a secluded world, and finally ends up in the real world.
to Saskia Walker!
Vote for Goodreads Choice Awards – Best Humor Book 2014
Vote for “Tied” – it is humor and romance in one.
Tangled Series: Tangled, Holy Frigging Matrimony, Twisted, Tamed, & Tied
This is an awesome series! Fresh, Blunt, and Funny. Give it to me straight – what a guy really thinks. I love a book that makes me feel so strongly about a character that I would like to smack him upside his head.
If you haven’t read this series – you should.
If you haven’t voted, go to goodreads.
Goodreads Choice Awards for Best Romance of 2014
I’ve read the following books that are up for goodreads choice awards for best romance book of 2014. I feel like voting for my favorite is as difficult as some of my law school exams.
Shelly Laurenston – “The Beast in Him”
Tussling and cherry pie – Oh My! This was a great humorous paranormal romance! The interplay between Jess and Smitty is consistently witty and entertaining. It is filled with fantastic running dialog between the characters throughout the entire book. My favorite is when Jess questions Smitty about teaching the pups the term, “Tussling.” Smitty responds, “Oh, you want me to be more specific?” My other favorite quote is, “He didn’t know what got to him more; the suction with which she sucked his fingers, the little sounds she made while she did it, or the way her eyes closed and her entire body rocked against him.”
There are many more books in the series. Next time I have PMS, I’m definitely reading the next in the series to help cheer me up.
