Erotic World Book Day

March 5, 2023

“Spice up your week with Erotic World Book Day, which happens on March 5th. Erotic literature, either fictional or non-fiction stories, is intended to arouse passionate, romantic, or sexual feelings in readers. And it has always existed! With the invention of printing in the 15th century, erotic literature was brought to a broader audience, thus leading to censorship. This genre covers a vast spectrum of scenarios and sexualities, from gay, straight, fantasy, sci-fi to real-life memoirs. Erotic World Book Day is the opportunity to show the wealth of erotic variety, while it has been overshadowed by Fifty Shades of Grey in recent years. In 2015, award-winning erotica authors Victoria Blisse and Emily Dubberly, who founded the women’s sex website Cliterati, took this opportunity to raise funds for a charity focused on sex education awareness.”

Joshua Edward Smith – Gravity (Entropy Book 3)

REVIEW

Sequels are difficult to write well but a trilogy is even more difficult. Gravity offers a great end to this story. There are sufficient time lapses to make things more interesting. The change in relationship status between the characters over time is done remarkably well. I didn’t find the sex factor as compelling as in the previous two books. But hey, that is simply my opinion. Nevertheless, the ending of the book was sensational. For those, like me, that need to see the resolution in characters’ lives, this is a must read novel.

BLURB

A chance meeting brings Sir and Lisa together after five years. But Sir is in a budding relationship and Lisa’s life is in chaos. Could a radical change in Sir’s situation finally let things work between them? Gravity is a complex and moving exploration of the turmoil older people face bringing romance and commitment back to single life.

Although the third in the Entropy series, this novel can be read as a standalone.

REVIEW

This is a sweet little taste of an age play story. I use the term age play over Daddy/little because the relationship seemed a bit contrived. In fact, Cindy is a drama major in college, which seriously affected the believability. If you are looking for something out of the ordinary, you might want to give this book a shot.

There were parts of the book that were done quite well – the kind that pull at your heart. I would give this book … 3 STARS.

BLURB

When Cindy, a broke college student, who is tired of eating ramen, and borrowing money from her folks for text books, gets evicted from her dorm after a wild party thrown by her roommate, while she was away, the wrongfully accused finds an interesting housing ad in the paper.

A well-to-do older man, will allow her to stay with him for free, in her own self-contained apartment on his property right near campus, in exchange for a few hours cleaning a week. The deal seems too good to be true.

Cindy meets the rich older man, and quickly finds she would have done anything he asked, even if she didn’t need housing this badly.

He seems to take a shining to Cindy, letting her know after their expectantly long meeting regarding the room, that it’s hers if she wants it. He can hold it for as long as she needs.

When she agrees to move in though, the older man gives her a contract outlining her life living there. She will not only receive free accommodation, but also an allowance for personal expenses. Among other things, the contract says that she has to call him ‘Daddy’ and consent to wear ‘approved clothing’ when she is home.

Even with the oddness of his requests, Cindy feels she can trust this man, so she agrees to sign her new Daddy’s contact, and hands over control of much of her living situation to this man.

When she hands over control, he lets her into his heart. This is a fast-paced, sexy age play romance.

Warning: This romance novel includes scenes depicting sex acts, BDSM, and age play. If any of these things offend you don’t buy the book.

REVIEW

This is a rare book that is written from a male Dom’s perspective by a male. It is a continuous flow of originality. Unlike most romance books that portray men’s emotions in exaggerated ways, David comes across much more real.

David is an interesting character.  He is confident from a young age. Seems to have endless patience, in total control, and has excellent intuition when it comes to people and what they need. He is the type of character that you want to know more about and what makes the book a good read.

While I really liked the interweaving story arcs, it made it a little difficult to fully enjoy the story.

BLURB

Book Two of The Fullerton Chronicles finds us venturing back to the beginning stages of several of David’s playmates. Each of them give us more insight into how David has evolved from his simple curious beginnings to a much sought after Dom. Interweaving story arcs trace paths across different starting points in David’s timeline. Each moving forward to the present, revealing more layers of who he was, will be, and currently is. This is Not your Dad’s Gay Male Erotica with BDSM themes. This is full-on Donkeypunch.

REVIEW

What a well-done action packed novella! I’m not usually a fan of novellas because I generally prefer to get to know to the characters more intensely. This story is full of tasty scenes that leave you feeling very satisfied like a 7 course meal. Dane is smoldering hot and posses all the wonderful qualities of a dominant romance character. The heat between Dane and Jasmine is searing.

If all novellas were this good, I would read more.

BLURB

When Dane Brawley whips out his cuffs,
there’s only one thing I can do… relent.

When Jasmine Archer purrs my name,
there’s only one thing I can do… relent.

He’s got talent’s I didn’t think a man could possess.

She’s got a body I could get addicted to.

Will one night be enough?
Or will Hollywood’s newest star and Los Angeles’ sexy cop find a forever in the City of Angels?

*This is book one in the duet and has no cliffhanger. Each book will feature a different couple. This is a short, dirty read. 18+ ONLY due to a filthy mouthed alpha and explicit sex scenes.

Ruby Stallion – Naomi’s Sexy Thanksgiving (Sexy Holiday Series Book 1)

REVIEW

I thought this would be a fun read during my Thanksgiving morning work out. It did keep me entertained while exercising on the stair master. However, I was unaware that this was the first book in a holiday series. My bad. So I was a bit shocked that the story ends abruptly in a cliffhanger.

As a first book in the series, it was a decent beginning. I tend not to fall in love with books quickly.

I would definitely keep your eyes out for this series as it comes to completion. I think the series in its entirety has good potential.

BLURB

Self-pleasure, good looking people, holiday spirit and the erotic fantasy mind of Ruby Stallion makes this a good erotic story.

REVIEW

If you read the first book in this series, you can understand how it was nearly impossible not to start reading this book. Fortunately, I had the pleasure of not having to wait between finishing book 1 and book 2.

Book 2 continues with a flare of originality. In the sea of many repetitive books, I give a lot of credence to the newness of the material. Also, the heat is turned up a bit higher in book 2.

Following a 10 month time lapse in the story between book 1 and book 2, the relationship between Lisa and Sir takes on a physical relationship.

Sir’s personality or needs (I’m not even quite sure what the proper reference word would be) is not very likable.  That is not intended to be a negative about the book. Hatred for a character makes for a good read sometimes. I admit to having hopes that Sir would eventually redeem himself. I’ll keep that opinion to myself. I will say that I do believe that Sir’s final moments seem to be out of character. I had a difficult time reconciling his final choices.

There is a large cast of characters in this book. I would have liked to have had the chance to know Annie a bit more.

BLURB

Lisa and Sir have finally managed to balance their kinky love life with the vanilla world of suburbia. But when Sir starts training a sexy young submissive, the strength of his relationship with Lisa is tested. Could polyamory be the key to maintaining the stability Lisa needs while giving Sir the variety he craves? This captivating sequel to Entropy is a provocative journey through the complex world of physical and virtual sexuality.

REVIEW

This book breaks the standard formula for a romance novel. First, the concept of an online romance is uniquely fantastic. To make things more interesting, it is a D/s relationship.  Coincidentally, I had just first heard of the concept of an online D/s relationship a few days before I started reading the book. I felt like I was reading an entirely new genre, which was new and exciting.

The ebb and flow of the developing relationship is less linear than most romance novels.  There are a number of issues that derail or set-back the progression of the relationship.

The depth of Lisa’s feelings grow incrementally throughout the book. The author never seems to make those unexpected leaps that ruins the believability of the book.

I fell in love with Lisa’s character when she starts tweeting from her hospital bed.  (Hey, it’s in the first 20% of the book, which I’ve decided doesn’t count as a real spoiler). Her humor and strength completely endeared me to her.

Sir always says, “Excuse me?” when Lisa says something disrespectful. When I finished the book I screamed, “Excuse me!” Beware of cliffhanger.

BLURB

Lisa is adrift—searching for connection on social media to compensate for the absence of love and attention in her marriage. But when a dominant married man entices her to become his online submissive, Lisa’s world starts to collapse around her. Could giving up all control be the secret to finding the serenity she longs to have? Cerebral and erotic, Entropy explores the murky depths of an online affair and how upheaval of the status quo reverberates through a woman’s life and sense of self.

REVIEW

Great characters and interesting, twisted plot.  I really enjoyed a few of the unexpected plot shifts.  It read like a good action novel without being weighed down by unnecessary extended violent scenes.

Seth is mysterious and good looking.  I could clearly conjure an image of him as if I were watching a crime show.  He is calculating, but yet sensitive.  The extended background on his character made him more likable.

Madison is very strong willed.  I liked how she fought to stay smart even in the worst of moments.

This is a fast paced novel.  I read it quite quickly for 90k word novel.  Based on that alone, I would give it a thumbs up.  The more I like a book, the faster I read.

BLURB

Never Turn Your Back . . .

Never Reveal Your Name . . .

Never surrender Your Heart . . .

Madison Sinclair is a smart-mouthed photographer who enjoys the simple things in life. Recently landing a job at one of Manhattan’s top imaging companies, she works hard to prove herself but often falls short of the mark. Taking pictures of the New York scenery, relaxing at home with a glass of wine, and caring for her stray cat are the highlights of her day. But when her best friend convinces her into covering a charity event thrown by a handsome billionaire, Madison’s life suddenly becomes anything but simple as she finds herself in a constant race for survival. There is nowhere she can turn, no one she can trust.

Seth Reynolds has been in the game a long time. He knows how to get in, get a job done, and get out with no complications and no witnesses. Trained to be cold and heartless, he is committed to follow through with this mission no matter what. Racing against an impossible time table, everything is in place to take out the madman intent on destroying New York City. But when the naIve Madison Sinclair stumbles into his world, all of his carefully laid plans go to hell.

Determined to do what is right at all costs, Seth must choose between the rules he’s lived by his entire life or saving Madison from a fate worse than death. If he follows orders, he will be an unsung hero, saving millions of innocent people. But if he risks his own life for Madison’s, the entire city will be in jeopardy. The choice should be easy. Risk one to save many. That’s the unbreakable code of The Perfect Order. But now, without even trying, Madison has gotten under his skin and inside his heart. With the fate of the city resting in his hands, how he can do the right thing when he no longer knows what that is?

Celebrating Authors/Books that I didn’t blog about but haven’t forgotten (Week 6 – Spicy Stories to Savor)

Throw Back Thursday.png

Week 6 – Spicy Stories to Savor

Elisa Adams

For Your Pleasure – Hot single female shall covet thy sexy single male neighbor.  They share a lot more than just a cup of sugar.  It is a lot more spicy than sweet.

Maya Banks

Surrender Trilogy – What does having a dominant lover really mean?  Here’s a few different perspectives.  Each story is great.

Unspoken Series – Okay, I accidentally read the 2nd and 3rd stories first.  The first is in my queue.  I have no doubt that the first will be good, as well. Have to appreciate Maya Banks for sneaking in a little menage in many stories. “Understood” was an unexpectedly good read.  I accidentally read the second in the series, “Overheard” first, which was outstanding.  (Maya Banks is the queen of writing menage stories) I was worried that “Understood” would not compare to “Overheard.”  Looking back, what a preposterous notion!  Maya Banks does not fail to disappoint in either book.  “Understood” gets right into the heart of the romance story between Jake and Ellie.  I was pleased that the book did not harp on the details of Ellie’s abusive past, but simply made it an element of her character.  The entire trilogy is now offered in one book, Unbroken (Unspoken #1-3).

Shayla Black as Shelley Bradley

Sexy Capers – Criminal investigation with sexual interludes.  Well balanced mix of the two.

Eden Cole

What He Wants – Doesn’t everyone want what they want?  Sometimes it is painfully awkward, difficult, and scary to admit what you want.  Is it worth taking a risk to get what you want?  Oh yeah. (M/M)

Lauren Dane

Chase Series – Small town, close family, and four wickedly passionate brothers.  These books have all the ingredients for great stories.   The beautiful stories unfold where the men find themselves wanting deeper committed relationships.  Their reform is moving. The abundant secondary characters in “Making Chase” richly add to the development of Matt and Tate’s relationship. What I liked most was the off the cuff, little addition at the end.  It was so much better than a wrap-it-in-a-bow, cookie-cutter HEA.  Wow!  Perfect ending to a book and series.

To Do List – Working diligently toward career minded goals is commendable but not always fulfilling.  Some of the best things can come unexpectedly, like a love interest that is strong enough to derail even the best laid plans.

Sylvia Day

All Revved Up – If you love someone, set them free.  So the saying goes.  What if, they come back?  What happens then?  I’m not sure if there will be a sequel to this story, but if there is one then I’ld would read it.

Wish List – Oh come all ye faithful, a sexual Christmas miracle.  Stephanie must have been just the right combination of naughty and nice to get her Christmas wish fulfilled.  A book that makes you sing, Fa La La La La La La La La!

Abbi Glines

Sea Breeze Series – Beware – totally additive reading!  The characters are young, mature, fun, sensual, and I cannot get enough of them.  Each book is excellent, but I suggest trying to read the series in order.  I still have a couple to read in the series – I’m only holding off because I dread the series being over.

Kari Gregg

You Melted Me – When you finally find the right one, it is worth it to work through the complications.  Sometimes, you just need a wake-up call to get the right motivation. (M/M)

Megan Hart

Broken – Monthly dates sharing explicit details of sexual conquests.  Is talking about sex a form of cheating in a marriage?  Tragic love story at its best.

Dan and Elle (Dirty, Reason Enough) – The simplicity of a intimate relationship is not always enough.  Sometimes you need to reconcile it with the difficulties of real life problems.  If you can manage that, the rewards can be tremendous.

Stranger – Paying for sex is one way to avoid true intimacy.  So what happens when someone accidentally gets under your skin?

Beth Kery

Explosive – Not your normal straight forward romance.  A lustful tale told in the most thought provoking order that I have ever read.  The way the character faces his revelations is brilliant.

Paradise Rules – I’ld like to order some sex on the beach.  This book had me blushing a deep shade of crimson.  The book is hotter than a summer day in Hawaii, where the story happens takes place.

Release – Things get really complicated after a threesome.  Murder mystery and passion all in one.

Wicked Burn – Sexual healing is just what the doctor ordered.  Well, at least it is sometimes a great way to forget about a seriously sad and complicated life.  Unfortunately, the two sides of life cannot remain compartmentalized forever.

Christina Lauren

Wild Seasons Series (Sweet Filthy Boy) – Running off to France with a man that can whisper sweet nothings in your ear with a French accent, who could say no to that?  Sounds like the best kind of summer.

M. Leighton

Wild Ones Series: Life on the wild side is always more fun.  Tired of boring?  Live vicariously through the characters.  All four books are lively.

Bad Boys Series: Awesome twist in the first book.  Love a book that can surprise me.  Then, it gets even better because there are two books that follow in the series.

Wendy S. Marcus

Craving Her Soldier’s Touch, Secrets of a Shy Socialite –  I’m new to this subsection of romance novels known as medical romance.  While the medical elements exist, they do not detract from the romance elements and turn the story into a melodrama.  Pleasing romance!

Raine Miller

Blackstone Affaire – Warning – must have copy of the 2nd book, All In, in possession when reading the first in the series, Naked.  Naked has one of the funniest, best endings of a book I have ever read.  Plan to start reading All In IMMEDIATELY when you finish the first.  More books in the series, but I haven’t gotten to them yet.

Tiffany Reisz

The Original Sinners Series – Jesus H. Christ! and Holy Mary, Mother of God!  Sorry if these phrases offend you, but if they do – don’t read this series. If not, HOLY BDSM on crack!  Want a book that doesn’t just cross the lines, but goes so far past it that the line does’t even exist?  MUST READ this series (in order).  I’m so excited to read the next one coming out, The King. Check out her website, too.

Alegra Verde –

Taking Her Boss – Sex in and out of the office.  Best of both worlds!  Who dominates where?

Natalie Wild

Endless LoveShort fun read.  Great if you only have a small bit of time and need a quick fix of romance.

Nicole Williams

Crash Series – Prepare to fall in love with Jude Ryder.  Both Jude and Lucy have a complicated past but also have a tight loving connection.  Just as the fans in the football stadium cheer on Jude, I feel the urge to champion Jude and Lucy’s relationship.

Laura Wright

Wicked Ink Chronicles  – Awesome quick read!  It’s got all the ingredients for a great bedtime read – (1) Hot, muscled, talented tattoo artist that rides a motorcycle; (2) long-lost teenage love; (3) hot love scenes.  I would definitely recommend this book.  I’m looking forward to the next in the series: Shattered Ink, and Rebel Ink.

Samantha Young

On Dublin Street Series – Blimey! Undeniably great romance stories that revolve around different family members and friends in Scotland.  Each story is fantastic and can be read alone, but I suggest reading in order.

Captivated

Letting Go by Megan Hart – This story is invigorating in the sense that it leaves the reader feeling the empowerment of Colleen.  It is all about embracing your own sexuality, which is the best way to find fulfillment.  Colleen finds herself realizing that it is okay to want and need and still be dominant all the same time.  It’s a big message for such a short story.

Seize the Night by Tiffany Reisz – A story with the recipe for the hottest first time ever.  Starts with a perfect kiss.  Add four years to allow your mind to dream, anticipate, and envision.  Sprinkle in a little explicit guidance.  Finally, add the woman of your dreams and the ideal opportunity.  What do you get?  The ultimate way to lose your virginity.  Besides, Julien and Remi’s amazing affaire, Merrick was an entertaining character.  His explicit mouth and presence adds comedy and spice to the story.

Harlequin Blaze August 2013 Bundle

Vicki Lewis Thompson – The Heart Won’t Lie Here, the main character is an author of westerns with romance.  This is a perfect set-up for a story because if he can write romance then he should be great in bed.  (Tee Hee!)  In fact, Michael ends up being so motivated from his relationship with Keri, he writes an additional heated love scene.  The chemistry between the characters works well because of the threads of commonalities that they share and the direction that their lives are moving.

Jo Leigh – To the Limit This is a great story to read if you ever had a Top Gun, Tom Cruise fantasy.  Does it get any better than a fighter pilot?  Answer, yes it does.  A fighter pilot that has wanted a girl for years and is grounded from flying due to an eye injury.  That’s a whole lot of frustration and energy to get out between the sheets.  The ultimate question is what is the measure of love: what are you willing to give up for it?

Isabel Sharpe – Half-Hitched  Love is in the air at a friend’s wedding.  Two friends each find the person they’re meant to be with.  You know it is hot, when after having sex a number of times, one couple realizes that they have never been together in an actual bed.  Sometimes loves comes at you quickly and knocks you over the head.  Other times it takes years.  Both, can be just as real and astounding.  All relationships can be risky.  If you really love someone, then they are worth the risk.

Meg Maguire – Taking Him Down Imagine a perfectly sculpted champion MMA fighter with sweat pouring over his tan latin skin.  Now, imagine that same man with a heart so big that he puts his family, mom and sister, first.  He’s sexy and has his priorities in order.  Absolutely HOT!

Sneak Peak (Shelley Bradley – Watch Me; Jaci Burton – Show Me)

Exhibitionism at its best!

Some Like It Rough (Kate Pearce – Some Like it Rough; Susan Lyons – Private Eyes; Anne Rainey – Cherry On Top)

This is a grand slam, bases-loaded, home run book.  All three authors knock it out of the park.
