S. Valentine – His Confession

This is the ultimate romance reader’s dream.  Woman in a stifling-sexless relationship dives into a sex-driven, indulgence-filled relationship.

unnamed-2

This book has the heat of erotica and plot to keep the reader intrigued.  The sex is off the charts, but the struggle with trust is real.

There’s nothing sexier than the mutual ecstasy between Gabi and Darion.  “She loved the sounds of appreciation that he made, that he enjoyed every bit of it, as did she.”

Darion’s philosophy in life is “[W]e should stick to what gives us pleasure in life.  We only get one chance, ya know, why limit ourselves?”

The one thing that bothered me about the story was all the smoking, which is why I reduced my rating from 5 stars to 4 stars.  It’s not that the smoking made me dislike the character.  There are many books where I hate the character (btw a great sign of writing) and have awarded a 5 star.  The smoking element, persistence, and timing added an “icky” factor that I simply couldn’t ignore.  Otherwise, the book is really great.  I look forward to reading the next one.

Synopsis

Stolen Flame:

She finds early on that she will not suffer her sentence alone. With the budding sisterhood of the six other women taken at the same time, along with an unexpected ally, Vivian will discover an inner strength and love that she never knew existed.

Review

Wow!!  This story stunned me by altering my perception as the scenes progressed.  The plot is intense and dark and pushes the limit of what I normally can handle in a story.  This wasn’t by any sense of the imagination a typical erotic tale.  The majority of the story takes place where the kidnapped girls are held captive in a sex club and are forced to satisfy 5 men, 5 days a week.  While this is a chilling to imagine, the strength of the characters, particularly Vivian, compelled me to continue reading and I couldn’t book down the book.  The author amazingly weaves a bit of romance into an extraordinary situation.  As a reader I was clinging to the romantic elements as much as Vivian was desperate to hold onto her love.

** Spoiler Alert ** (It’s a romance novel – an HEA is expected)

After the girls are released – the book gets intriguing.  Vivian champions the concept of embracing the bad things in life and continuing on.

Maya Banks – Sweet Temptation (Sweet #4)

f11f92c90887a7596601324253cf339f

Re-reading books is my new guilty pleasure.  This book was too tempting not to read again.

Micah is a generally a walled off man that doesn’t care to share a lot of personal details about his past.  Angelina, the little sister of his deceased best friend, returns from his past.  She’s a sexy Latina with a determination to seduce the man of her dreams.  Micah tries to fight his overwhelming lustful attraction for her, but he cannot resist.  His domination of Angelina’s body is scorching hot!  You’ll need a glass of cold water nearby to help cool you off.

Add a little suspense to the mix and the culmination is one hell of a book.

This series is absolutely flipping amazing.  New to the sex club scene?  Read these books!  Sex, action, and romance, this series has it all.  (A little menagerie, too)  I cannot say that I have a favorite in the series, because they are all great.  I suggest reading them in order, because the characters develop throughout the series.

Ana Mederios – The Raven Room – Cover Reveal

unnamed

This book is intensely sexual and substantially intriguing.  There’s no denying that the book is delightfully erotic, but the fact that it engages the reader on an intellectual level as well makes it truly special.  I couldn’t stop thinking about the book after I finished it.

Julian is a character with a lot of layers and the authors peels them away in such a manner that it makes it very difficult to put the book down.  Julian is a child psychologist and his insight into sex from such a background is enlightening.

“If I showed you a video of a lion and a lioness mating, the chances of you getting wet are much higher than me getting a hard on.   Alas, one the many beautiful things about female sexuality.  I’m deeply envious.”

“You’re the one changing your own existence, Meredith.  I’m just the man who’ll make sure you get home safely.”

“We all fuck people for the strangest reason.  At least you’re aware of yours.”

Meredith starts out as the perfect lover – fun, passionate, and carefree.  Contrary to her selfish nature, later she proves to also be caring  and considerate without jealousy.  She’s also equally as perceptive as Julian.

“You’re ashamed of who you are.  The day you embrace yourself, you’ll be strong.  Until then you’re weak.”

The other characters lead to the mystery involved in the story.  I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series to see how it continues to play out.

As an added bonus, the story takes place in Chicago.  The author included a few notable landmarks but more importantly captured the essence of a Chicago winter.

This book will be published on November 3, 2015.

Kelly Jamieson – Slammed (San Amaro Singles, Book 3)

810d527afd1659f8ea1003bdc71afb42

After reading With Strings Attached, I felt Dylan’s pain of being cast aside in his threesome with his best friend, Matt, and Matt’s semi-girlfriend, Corey.  Although Matt didn’t suffer from lack of sexual companionship.  In the one year since his break-up he’s developed quite the reputation for being sexually indulgent.  The story opens with Brooke, a representative from his main money-making sponsor, walking in on him engaging in a threesome with two girls.  Quite a way to meet for the first time.

Brooke and Dylan end up mixing a lot of pleasure with their business.  It’s easy to understand how the two hooked up.  Dylan’s got an insatiable appetite and incessantly flirtatious.  And more notably, he’s got a delicious, perfectly sculpted, pro surfer ass.  Add a little massage oil and things easily slipped from business to pleasure.

All in all, this is a great series.  It’s easy to get attached to the main characters and the author does a great job of tying the minor characters throughout the story lines.

Kelly Jamieson – How to Love (San Amaro Singles, Book 2)

Good things come to those that wait.  When I finished reading the first in this series, With Strings Attached, I was so sad for Dylan.  I was miffed that the 2nd book in the series didn’t continue with Dylan’s story.  But this book was so amazing that I quickly forgot my irritation and was fully engaged in the story.

This was a unique threesome book in the sense that it began with two bisexual men looking to add a woman to their relationship.   They’re not just looking for a wild one-nighter.  They want the real relationship, but that’s not easy.  Mike worries about pushing Jules too quickly into a relationship.  Jules fears all relationships.  And Carlos is afraid to hope that a relationship is possible.

Despite all of the characters’ individual fears about relationships, there’s no holding back in the bedroom.  There’s no hesitation and is 100% HOT.

The book delivers everything it promises on the back of the book:

“Warning: The book features two hot men brave enough to climb cliffs, strip naked for erotic photographs, have sex in a portrait studio and on a cliff, and who have the courage to teach a commitment-phobic woman how to love.”

Laurell K. Hamilton – Dead Ice (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter #24)

2836f17e379dbd2966d3231f6d5fcb86

Dead Ice is a great mix of paranormal plot and serious sexual adventure.

Laurell K. Hamilton does paranormal romance like no other.  Anita Blake is a necromancer that raises the dead and has more vampire kills than any other U.S. Marshall.  She also holds the lycanthrope powers of various shapeshifting animals.  Her metaphysical powers increase throughout the series.  She’s engaged to the head vampire of all of America, but is also romantically involved with many others.  It’s not these facts that make Anita Blake such an interesting character but rather the manner in which she treats others.  She’s tough, she’s intelligent, she’s blunt, she’s fair, she’s accepting, and she knows how to put someone in their place.  Anita is the epitome of being open and tolerant.

The romantic plot of Dead Ice centers around trying to figure out who should be included in a commitment ceremony with Anita Blake.  Let’s face it, there are a lot of men (and a few women) in Anita’s life from which to choose.  Surprisingly for the number of sexual partners that Anita has, she really doesn’t openly engage in sex with someone she doesn’t care about.  She has partners in her sex life that are initiated by love and others by power.  But she always deeply cares about those with which she sleeps.

The author attempts to explain the basic nature of the polyamorous relationship.  “Poly isn’t about being completely fair for most people.  There are some who run it with near perfect equality, but for most of us there are primary relationships, there are secondary, and even ones less serious than that.”

By the end, the marriage and commitment ceremony have yet to take place, which leaves the reader wanting to read the next in the series.  A lot can happen in a single day of Anita Blake’s life.  I’m looking forward to the next book.

I’ll have to say, I wish I had a relationship tree to follow all of Anita Blake’s relationships.  This is her 24th book and as the series continues so does Anita’s list of sexual partners.  I read the first 17 books in a binge reading session – the series is addictive.  But now, that I’m reading the books as they are published, my time between reading each has increased.  It makes it harder to recall all the characters.

Kelly Jamieson – With Strings Attached (San Amaro Singles #1)

Kelly Jamieson is an extraordinaire threesome author!  If you haven’t read her books, you are missing out.

With Strings Attached is a book about the benefits of a friends with benefits relationship.  Corey and Matt are good friends that occasionally enjoy a romp in the bedroom.  Corey is a chocolatier.  Not only does she choose to work in a field of sweet indulgence, she has quite the appetite in the sack as well.  When Dylan, Matt’s friend and professional surfer, comes to stay with Matt, Corey becomes the creme filling in an Oreo cookie.  The bedroom scenes are HOT!  But when when the men become emotionally greedy, the threesome gets complicated.  The HEA has a fresh twist.  I’m looking forward to the next two books in the series: How to Love (#2) and Slammed (#3).

This is a series that is meant to be read in its entirety.  I got hooked on this series in the first book, Rule of Three.  I recently read the second, Rhythm of Three.  This book, Reward of Three is the best of all three books.  The heat is off the charts.  I had to open the window in my bedroom and let in a little cool air to help cool me down.  In this story the triad faces a very real tragedy.  The emotional struggles are believable and more relatable to those that are not or have never been in a polyamorous relationship.  Through this difficult time the reader gets a closer look at the relationship between Chris and Dag.  Absolutely loved the ending!  It’s great when a series ends perfectly.
