Quick and hot, with meaning in the mix. A recently divorced woman poses for a photographer. He doesn’t want wham bam thank you ‘mam. The way in which he sees more in her than just her physical beauty is romance at its best. He wants her to belong to him and beg him. He knows how to work the situation to get her to fall completely for him. He burrows deeper and states, “I want to make you miss me in every detail of your life because there’s me in all of them.”

Slight spoiler alert … We all know that a romance book always ends with a happily ever after, so I don’t really think this is a true spoiler. This was one of the best last lines of a book that I’ve read lately. It’s simply and succinctly meaningful.

“We are together, inspiring each other, and making each other happy. We are lucky.”

Nathan is great at seduction. It made me question how this story would be different if it were a man just recently divorced and the photographer was a woman. Oh well, that’s a completely different story. Probably one lacking any teeth.

Tara Sue Me – Enticement (The Submissive Series #4)

This book is like a huge epilogue to the Submissive Series. What happens after the HEA? What happens after years of marriage in a D/s relationship? Even if you can’t directly relate to the nature of a D/s relationship, this book has concepts that can be applied to all relationships.

I found the core of the story to be really beautiful. For a relationship to work both parties need to be eager to please and provide for the other. And, in any relationship, trust and communication are essential. While Abby doesn’t initially understand Nathaniel’s need to be more demanding and desire to play more often, his reasoning makes the entire book worth the read.

Did you think I would blog about a BDSM book without mentioning the sex? Heaven forbid. The sex scenes are HOT HOT HOT – Fantasies on overload. This book wasn’t just some simple let’s throw some toys into a scene and call it BDSM. The emotional connection and intensity of the scenes are the crux of what makes the moments sizzling.

Abbi Glines – Bad For You (Sea Breeze # 7)

Sea Breeze Series: Beware – totally additive reading! The characters are young, mature, fun, sensual, and I cannot get enough of them. The stories moves at such a pace that it is nearly impossible to put down. (I say “nearly” because I still have kids to tend to). At one point in Bad for You, Blythe thinks to herself that, “I felt like I was watching an episode of Dawson’s Creek.” That is how I feel when reading these books. The stories are effortless and entertaining.

Krit is a sexy bad boy rock star that behaves like a man whore, but is attracted to a truly innocent girl, Blythe. Despite their huge differences, there is a mutual spark between Krit and Blythe. Krit’s new found jealousy for Blythe is absolutely entertaining. His friend chides, “Krit, meet jealousy. It’s a bitter bitch.” My favorite heart wrenching moment was when Krit begged Blythe not to leave him.

Bad for You is full of love and evil. Evil is defined by one’s actions. Some of the characters are obviously evil while others are better at hiding it. The contrast between the two ideas make the feeling of love and respect all the more amazing.

I could relate to the character Lucy. She bakes wedding cakes for a living. As I’ve mentioned before, I like books that incorporate baking. She lives with a bunch of guy friends (just friends) in one flat. Her guy friends are great because they offer to punch her ex-boyfriend that dumped her and can endlessly make-fun of the wanker for never being able to satisfy her in bed. There’s no reason for Lucy to give up hope in all males – just the selfish ones that are quick on the trigger and can’t deliver. Lucky for Lucy she finds the one that pushes all the right buttons and gets her HEA.

Their enduring love for each other is accentuated in this story, which covers a one-year time period where Nora, Soren, and Kingsley are separated from one another and then return to each other. Their ability to forgive one another is profoundly moving. As you find out through the story, sometimes it takes time to recognize all aspects of oneself and learn to appreciate all sides of those you love. In addition, I would be remiss if I didn’t include some of my favorite quotes (that don’t contain spoilers):

“She survived the end of the world and found at the end a new beginning. And if she’d survived the end of the world, surely she could survive anything now.”

Did you think I forgot about the sex? Hell No! It is a Tiffany Reisz book – it is always sinfully delicious. Nora takes the virginity of a novice nun in a convent. Kingsley chains his lover to a bed for an entire week. And, Soren makes Eleanor forget her safe word and then pushes her to the point to where there is nothing she can do but safe word out.

Letting Go by Megan Hart

This story is invigorating in the sense that it leaves the reader feeling the empowerment of Colleen. It is all about embracing your own sexuality, which is the best way to find fulfillment. Colleen finds herself realizing that it is okay to want and need and still be dominant all the same time. It’s a big message for such a short story.

Seize the Night by Tiffany Reisz

A story with the recipe for the hottest first time ever. Starts with a perfect kiss. Add four years to allow your mind to dream, anticipate, and envision. Sprinkle in a little explicit guidance. Finally, add the woman of your dreams and the ideal opportunity. What do you get? The ultimate way to lose your virginity. Besides, Julien and Remi’s amazing affaire, Merrick was an entertaining character. His explicit mouth and presence adds comedy and spice to the story.

Alice Clayton – Wallbanger

What to learn from this book? If you have a hot neighbor, knock on his door wearing only a lacy pink nighty. Maybe a pair of CFM heels would be good, too. This is a fun story between Simon and Caroline. I enjoyed how Simon oscillated between referring to Caroline as Nighty Girl and Cockblocker and she referred to him as Wallbanger. I thought it was comical how Caroline referred to loss of her “O.” Don’t worry, her affliction (losing her vowel) is not contagious via reading the book. The transition between being friends and becoming a couple was humorous, awkward, scintillating, endearing, and dramatic. It was everything it should be and was told in a marvelous manner. On a side note, Caroline’s passion for baking was a tasty addition to the story that I adored. Of course, my obsession with baking may make me a little biased in that area. Overall, I would recommend this book.

Courtney Cole – If You Stay

Opposites attract, right? Well, Pax and Mila on the outside seem to be opposites. Pax is the bad boy with lots of tattoos and Mila is a conservative small town girl. It is the stuff on the outside that threatens to keep them apart. Pax feels that he is not good enough for Mila. Mila is hesitant because she fears that Pax will hurt her. Pax promises,

“I will try very hard not to hurt you, … I’m fucked up. So I can’t promise that I won’t. But I promise that I will try.”

That is all that anyone can really promise. Their attraction is actually based on their commonalities. Despite difficulties that both suffered as children, the idea that “Love Never Fails” was a strong impression made upon both.

The love that grows between them is a beautiful connection, but is not without its painful moments and they must deal with some heartbreaking realities. If you liked the Beautiful Series by Jamie McGuire, you should give this book a try.

The chemistry between the characters works well because of the threads of commonalities that they share and the direction that their lives are moving.
