Synopsis:

He’s driving her crazy…

Piper West is finally on her own, and it’s time to get crazy. Except that her overprotective big bro has enlisted his ex-cop best friend to keep an eye on his baby sister. With every move monitored and reported back, Piper’s life has gone from “going crazy” to “being driven crazy.” But a searing-hot kiss with her sexy and scarred watchdog is just the game-changer she needs…

Cole Black owes Piper’s brother big-time, but there’s nothing easy about his new assignment. Piper is all feisty sexiness and curves meant to tempt a man beyond reason, and Cole can’t stop himself. Now he’s caught up in a hunger like nothing he’s ever known, and he can’t get enough…

Even if Piper’s the one girl he’s not allowed to have.

Review:

This is a gratifying survivor’s guilt story with a happily ever after that is sure to put a smile on your face.

Piper is a great character.  She’s a full-sized woman that’s got a full-sized amount of caring in her heart.  She’s out to defy her role as the baby of the family and prove her competence as a mechanic.

Cole is emotionally and physically struggling from an auto accident which resulted in his police partner’s death.  His light hearted personality has vanished but not his attraction for Piper, which he’s harbored since Piper was seventeen.

I love how this love story preceded Cole’s accident.  Despite that now they’re older and supposed to be wiser and more mature, they practically act as worldly as teenagers.

It is hilarious how Cole describes his first week of living in the garage next Piper.

“The week from hell.  A week he aptly dubbed: Operation Piper fucks with Cole until he loses his goddamn mind.”

They each have have a bag of full of insecurities.  Some are real and some are the result of humorous misunderstanding.  Regardless of those issues, neither of their flawed bodies impedes their physical attraction between one another.

Emma Chase – Appealed (The Legal Briefs Series #3)

Humorous, Fun, & Romantic!!  Another great hit by Emma Chase!!  This is an amazingly fantastic teenage lovers reunited story.

Let’s face it, teenage boys are selfish and immature, it’s not surprising that the relationship fizzled so quickly when then were young.  Their break up was realistic and emotionally true to their age.  It left both of them damaged for about 15 years.

Adult Brent is awesome.  He’s quit witted, great friend, and intelligent.  He also has a great sense of humor.  When his mom orchestrates an arrangement that leads him to share a room with Kennedy, he says

“Now she’s just creeping me out.  It’s one thing if I want to screw Kennedy ten different ways.  But to think of my mother cheering us on – sitting on the sidelines with a flag in one hand and foam cock in the other – is just wrong.”

Brent and Kennedy are an easy couple to want to cheer for.  Both of them come from extremely privileged homes and have trust funds to keep them happy, but they work their asses off at their legal jobs.  The heart of their relationship is based on the passion between them not on the lavish lifestyle that they could lead together.

Without spoiling the story – BEST twist on a teenagers reuniting love story.

E L James – Grey

Yes, I am a fan of Fifty Shades Grey.  If you’re not a fan of FSOG, don’t bother reading this review and please don’t write any comments.

Did I think FSOG was perfect?  No, but I don’t really know of any book that I would say is perfect.

Now I take a deep breath. I fear writing about what seems to be such a controversial book/series.  It’s not that I fear arguing my points – I did become an attorney.  But rather, for me, reading is supposed to be fun.  It’s not something that warrants arguing my position.  If I enjoy a book, I like to share my thoughts.  If I don’t like the book I simply don’t waste my time writing about it.

All that being said, if you liked Fifty Shades of Grey, I recommend reading Grey.  Christian is certainly an interesting character and is worthy of his POV story.  I loved the way in which he questions his own feelings and is certainly trying to better himself.  Of course, his continued inability to sense how others are concerned about him was a bit sad.  I was surprised by how little he opened up to Elena.  Most importantly, I liked learning how his relationship with Anastasia eased his troubled psyche.

In the end, I think I preferred Grey to Fifty Shades of Grey.  Except, I don’t like books that end cliff hangers.  Frustrating, right?  At least in this case, the reader knows the ultimate outcome.  I wouldn’t mind a little more Christian in future POV books.

Lorelei James – Cowgirls Don’t Cry

51IYppTDzXL._AA160_

This is the 10th book in the Rough Riders Series.

This book grabs the reader’s attention from the get-go – an all call for a threesome on page 1.  But that’s par for the course with those wild McKay boys.

Don’t be fooled by the title, this isn’t a story about some tame dame cowgirl.  All her tears for her husband, Luke McKay, are in the past.  Jessie has a warm and giving heart but she isn’t afraid to make her own sexual demands.  Jessie confronts Brandt, “[I]f we’re gonna act like a married couple then I want you naked in my bed every night.”

How would a man react to a line like that from a women that he has wanted for years? Getting the answer to that question is just another reason to read this book.  Let’s just say, that the strong, toned, well-built, dominant Brandt lives up to the McKay name.   I’m surprised the heat inside the trailer didn’t melt all the snow on the Wyoming ranch.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Buckeyes

Screen Shot 2015-02-20 at 3.15.28 PM

Chocolate and Peanut Butter is almost always a good thing.  These are definitely good-to-eat treats.  But what in the world is a buckeye?

Buckeye

Just what exactly is a buckeye and why is it Ohio State’s mascot?

“In preparation for Monday night’s national championship game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Oregon Ducks(more on that in another story), it seems appropriate to clear the confusion up.

According to The Ohio State University’s athletics department website, a buckeye is “a small, shiny, dark brown nut with a light tan patch that comes from the official state tree of Ohio, the buckeye tree.”

According to folklore, the Buckeye resembles the eye of a deer and carrying one brings good luck. It has been the official Ohio State nickname since 1950, the website says, but it had been in common use for many years before that.”

The Deep

Coolest photo I’ve seen in years. My novel, Twin Rapture, that I’m currently editing takes place in San Francisco. The photo shall help inspire me to continue editing today.

What looks like futuristic tunnels rising out from the deep is actually the facade of a skyscraper called One Front Street, located along Market Street in downtown San Francisco. The darkening evening sky and the reflective surface of the building gives it a somewhat ethereal look. As it was a late Friday evening, the area was pretty quiet, so it almost felt as if I had the whole city to myself.
