Romance Audiobook Salvation

I’m counting on my audiobooks to save my sanity this week.

My to-do list is long! I’m hosting Thanksgiving.

I invited a friend to join my family. And, a guest means there is a lot more cleaning to do. With two dogs, it’s impossible to keep a place clean all of the time. Did I mention that one of my dogs is part Bernese Mountain Dog? He sheds a LOT.

No worries! I got this under control this year and queued up a good list of audiobooks to keep me sane while cleaning and preparing food for turkey day. Funny enough, I’m not making a turkey. No one in my family besides me eats turkey. I’m cooking ham instead.

Spicy Book Romance Club

Huge thanks to The Unromance Book Club for embracing my latest MFM romance with open hearts and open minds. Your support for Defending Engagement means everything.

What is an unromance book club?

It’s a laid-back, no-pressure book club where each month, members gather to chat about whatever romance books they’ve been reading. No assigned titles. No required themes. The group leans toward spicy romance, although some green pepper, closed-door romances are discussed on occasion. We laugh, swap recommendations, and connect over our shared love of romance books. It’s always a fun, welcoming time.

Confessions of a Spicy Romance Author – Writing Roots

Interview at
https://cravebooks.com/author/liz-ellyn?tab=interview

Authors that influenced my love of reading

S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders – the first book I remember reading that I truly enjoyed

John Irving’s The Hotel New Hampshire – Started my love of the dark side as a young teenager

Stephenie Meyer – Twilight Saga – This book got me back into reading after decades of nothing.

Confessions of a Spicy Romance Author…Doggie Distractions

Meet Boomer (Bernese Mountain Dog/Cavalier King Charles), Tanner (Aussiedoodle), and Bash (Cavalier King Charles)

All three are a distraction from writing and a cure for writer’s block. Taking the dogs for a walk while listening to an audiobook helps get me back on track.

Authors are readers before they become writers

I read romance books with all levels of heat. Recently, I have been on a dark romance kick. I’m welcome to all book recommendations, so if you have any, please leave them in the comments below.

I tend to stick to contemporary romance. I’m not into romantasy, but I do love paranormal romance. Bring on the werewolves and vampires.

I love almost all tropes. Please don’t spoil the plot with trigger warnings.
