March 15, 2025- Chicago will dye the river bright green.

Originally, 100 pounds of a fluorescein dye, typically used to trace water currents, was used to create a vibrant green hue.

Today, the dye used is an eco-friendly vegetable-based dye, ensuring minimal impact on the river’s ecosystem. Additionally, the dye is now applied by specialized boats equipped with sprayers, ensuring a more even and vibrant coloration of the water.

While an affogato is traditionally made with espresso, I used coffee instead. The ube ice cream was an unbelievable combination with its hints of vanilla and coconut. And what a fun color!

March 4, 2025 lizellyn Bookish #authorlife, #grammar, #grammarday, #OxfordComma, #writingcommunity

Misuse of the Oxford Comma is a pet peeve of mine.

In the example above…

With the Oxford comma: My parents, plus two legendary authors

Without it: Surprise! My parents are Stephen King and Jane Austen. Talk about a plot twist!
